Let's bake!

Royal Smilde Bakery is active in various product groups, channels and countries.

We supply a wide range of products to traditional bakeries, retailers, catering professionals, industrial customers and consumers. Typical examples include cake bases for the traditional baker, apple turnovers for retailers, sausage rolls for the hospitality industry and ready-to-bake mixes sold to consumers via the supermarkets. We offer these products under several of our own brands, in co-creation with other brands and under Private Label.

Bakery Development Centre

The team at the Bakery Development Centre comprises traditionally educated, experienced bakers and experts in food technology. It is the breeding ground of our organisation; it's where research is carried out into new technologies and ingredients. Where products are developed and optimised, and where, in close collaboration with the Marketing department, we work continuously on developing new concepts.

Production sites

Royal Smilde Bakery has production sites in Edam, Bolsward and Roden. In Edam, we specialise in making shortcrust pastry and meringue. Our famous cream horn is also baked here, as well as a wide range of sweet and savoury bake-off snacks, puff pastry bases and meringue products.
In Bolsward we make various types of pie and cake bases from yeast dough and cake dough. We offer these for sale as unfilled, semi-filled or fully filled products, ranging from an unfilled tartlet to a ready-made flan.
Our ready-made baking mixes in consumer packs for home use and in bulk packaging for the catering industry are prepared in Roden. 

Around the world

In the Netherlands, we work with account managers who serve every market segment. We also have our own sales offices in Belgium and Germany. Worldwide, our products can be found in supermarkets in Europe, the US, Brazil, Australia, the Middle East, South Africa and, since recently, in China too.
