”UMAMI OF VAN DE LEUR WINS INNOVATION AWARD” PRESS RELEASE 8 MARCH 2016

”Umami of Van de Leur  wins Innovation Award”

On behalf of Van de Leur Banketspecialiteiten bv Robert van de Leur proudly accepted the Europain Innovation Award on Friday the 5th of February 2016 in Paris for the newest product of Van de Leur: Umami. The Japanese word means “deliciousness’’ or “savoury”. Both words perfectly match the savoury cake, which Van de Leur introduced to the market in six different flavours.

Umami won the award because the healthy ingredients that have been used reflect the current consumer trends. The jury, consisting of professionals from the bakery and confectionary industry as well as representatives of the press, examined all nominated products according to technique, marketing, nutritional value, flavor sensation and practical aspects.

The award ceremony took place on the 5th of February 2016 at 2.30 pm in the Conference Café. All award winning products have been presented in the special “Innovation and new products” area during the entire fair.

The different variations of Umami are amongst others made of kale (Kale-licious), mackarel (Mackarel with a beet) and seaweed (Seaweed Sensation).
