Smilde Bakery consists of a group of professional bakeries and produces a wide range of traditional and innovative bakery products. With its five product groups of bakery components, cookies, patisserie, snacks and Seasonal, Smilde Bakery serves every market segment, from traditional bakeries and butchers to food service, petrol stations, catering companies, retail and industry. The range includes more than 500 products, aimed at the professional and consumer markets.
Popular brand names
The products are marketed under popular brand names, such as Pruvé, Délices du Palais, Van Welzen, Zocijs and Non Stop!. Smilde Bakery distinguishes itself through innovative products, successful marketing concepts and service in the fields of sales support and logistical processes.
International production and markets
Smilde Bakery has four production companies, two of which are located in the Netherlands, and two in France. It also has sales offices in Belgium, Germany and France. Its bakery products are sold in various countries across Europe, North-America, Africa and Asia. Smilde Bakery provides employment to some 500 people.
History
Smilde Bakery was created from the family businesses Pruvé B.V. and Van Welzen Bakkerijen B.V. from Bodegraven. Originally (1968) Pruvé was a products bakery in Amsterdam which, over the course of the years, expanded into a specialist in patisserie products and bakery snacks with a production site in Edam. In 1995 Pruvé B.V. took over Baguette de France B.V. with the aim of expanding its range with pre-baked bread products. The Van Welzen family business in Bodegraven, which has specialised in biscuits and products since 1928, was taken over in 2003 by the Heerenveen-based Koninklijke Smilde B.V. Pruvé B.V. has formed part of this corporation since 1981. deGoede B.V., established in 1929, has formed part of Smilde Bakery B.V. since 2006.
Part of Royal Smilde
Smilde Bakery forms part of Royal Smilde, an internationally operating corporation that has been active in the food industry since 1863. Together with its business units Chilled products and Margarine, Oils and Fats, Royal Smilde consists of several production companies and sales offices with establishments in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, the UK and Spain. Royal Smilde provides employment to some 1000 people, both locally and abroad.
